Mass Electric Construction and IBEW Local 96 Underway with Solar Farms in Charlton, MA and Uxbridge, MA

IBEW Local 96 signatory contractor, Mass Electric Construction, has been awarded and is underway with two large-scale solar projects in Central Massachusetts: a 6.3 MW ground-mount solar array in Charlton, Massachusetts and a 2.8 MW solar array in Uxbridge, Massachusets. The Charlton project commenced on March 29 and a crew of approximately 40 IBEW Local 96 electricians is expected to perfomr installations at peak construction. IBEW Leaders Mobilize on Capitol Hill to Stop Multi-Employer Pension Plan Reform

December 2, 2018 – Washington, D.C. – On November 27 to 29, IBEW Local 96 Business Manager Thomas Maloney joined with IBEW President Lonnie Stephenson and 200 IBEW business managers and pension trustees from throughout the U.S. to successfully head off an attack on Multi-Employer pension plans that Congress was considering during the current legislative session.


Zap Electric and Local 96 Underway with Claremont Academy Lighting Retrofit Project

IBEW Local 96 signatory contractor, Zap Electric, based in Longmeadow, MA, is underway with the energy-efficient LED lighting retrofit project at Claremont Academy in Worcester. The City of Worcester was awarded one of 47 Green Communies Competitive Grants by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to help fund the project. The project scope entails the replacement of interior fixtures with high-efficiency, intelligent LED lights. Motion detectors, daylight sensors and digital timers will also be installed into the lighting system to further reduce energy consumption. Twenty-nine First-year Apprentices Accepted into 2018 IBEW Local 96 / Worcester JATC Incoming Apprenticeship Class

Worcester, MA – IBEW Local 96 is pleased to announce that 29 first-year electrical apprentices have been accepted into the five-year Worcester Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (WJATP). On July 11, the apprentices attended an orientation at the Worcester union hall. WJATC Chairman Thomas Maloney and WJATC Training Director David Martinelli presented the apprentices an overview of the program, including the rules and regulations and curriculum requirements. The classroom portion of the electrical apprenticeship training begins September 4th at Worcester Technical High School.
