September 10, 2017 – Worcester, MA – On September 5th, IBEW Local 96 introduced 33 first year apprentices into the Worcester Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) five-year Electrical Training Program. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Worcester Vocational Tech. Some sessions are also held at the Local 96 Union Hall at 242 Mill Street in Worcester. This year’s apprenticeship class, the largest in more than a decade, is comprised of a diverse group of Central Massachusetts residents, most of whom are recent graduates of Worcester area vocational schools.
The JATC electrical training program consists of 1,000 hours in the classroom and 10,000 hours of on-the-job field training. IBEW Local 96 and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Central Massachusetts Chapter co-sponsor the industry-leading program.
