Worcester, MA – IBEW Local 96 is pleased to announce that 29 first-year electrical apprentices have been accepted into the five-year Worcester Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (WJATP). On July 11, the apprentices attended an orientation at the Worcester union hall. WJATC Chairman Thomas Maloney and WJATC Training Director David Martinelli presented the apprentices an overview of the program, including the rules and regulations and curriculum requirements. The classroom portion of the electrical apprenticeship training begins September 4th at Worcester Technical High School. The Inside Journeyman/Wireman program includes five years of electrical theory schooling and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. Upon successful completion, apprentices obtain a Massachusetts Journeymen Electrician license.
